On Rounding Up
I've recently changed my bank account across to a new provider because it has a few features that make managing a varied income easier.
One feature got me thinking about how we approach our art...
The account has me geeking out about its 'Rounding Up Feature' which allows you to round up to the pound for each transaction you make. So for example, if you purchase something for 45p it automatically transfers 65p into one of your account spaces. So, all of a sudden just from one little switch you've accumulated £26.31 in under a month just from tweaking what you're already doing.
So how has that got anything remotely related to creativity?
It's about the approach.
Usually, our default is to 'round down' our efforts with the likes of 'that's rubbish', 'I can't' and 'I'm not good enough' but we can make a choice to start 'rounding up' to 'I enjoyed this time out', 'I can see it's not right yet but it’s getting better,' 'I've cared enough to try' or 'I've made progress.'
Both approaches add up over time, but which would you rather accumulate?

ForM is by far my favourite group exhibition of the year to visit and I am honoured to have been one of artists involved in it this year.
If you missed the exhibition, here’s a round up.
