Materiality

Exploring the human condition, I am interested in understanding what lies beneath the surface, the biological & psychological components and attributes that makes us who we or who we perceive to be.  There’s the physical and biological Matter or material of who we are and what we’re made of, but equally, the intangible and immaterial - the soul, mind, thoughts and feelings.  Materiality is informed by the intersection between these two realms, in which I aim to materialise the immaterial.

Secondly, clay grounds us, remind us that we PHYSICALLY exist on the earth, but where we MENTALLY exist is arguably becoming progressively blurred and could be considered within the mind, the body, collectively or increasingly virtually.
